Why go to cosmetology school

OK so at 35 a lot of people wonder why I would choose to go back to school and study cosmetology.  The answer is quite simple; I enjoy working on hair. An added benefit is that it gives me an opportunity to volunteer my talents for events focused on the less fortunate.  I am hoping that I can get licensed in AZ then work towards my national license so that regardless of the state I can work where ever I go.  Eventually I would love to have enough money set aside so that I can focus on charitable work for the elderly and homeless.  There is nothing better in my opinion than the emotions and gratitude expressed by others once they are treated as a human being after a long time of not being taken seriously; sometimes a simple haircut and small talk can make someone feel human again.  The fact that I can do something that I love and find rewarding is beyond anything that I could have hoped.  Also if I can affect a change for even 1 other human being then all of the time away from my family and loss of sleep while studying to get my license will be worthwhile.  Already my husband is telling me that my desire to use my talents to help others has inspired him to give a little more of himself.  I am by no means selfless, in all honesty I feel that I am being greedy...nothing makes me feel better than the blessings and looks of hope that I inspire in others.
